New smile and fresh confidence – thanks to the TOWIE effect!

The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) first aired in October 2010 and, since then, the reality TV show has influenced us – cosmetically speaking – in so many ways.

Aesthetic enhancements are now an everyday part of our beauty regimes and the TOWIE effect has taken another bite out of the beauty industry in shaping our smiles.

As well as fake tan and hair extensions, the gleaming white smiles of celebrities and reality stars are inspiring more of us than ever to seek cosmetic teeth straightening.

Inspirational images are here, there and everywhere on social media – Instagram in particular is the perfect place to showcase those dazzling smile makeover ‘before and after’ photos.

And with the gleaming white smiles of stars inspiring people to splash out on cosmetic dental treatments, it’s great to hear that experts recently confirmed that a smile is indeed a ‘cool’ accessory.

Psychologists used a series of experiments to reveal that, when it comes to celeb adoration, we perceive them to be far cooler when they smile than when they are expressionless.

Lyndsey-ann Rodger is a 40-year-old service advisor in the motor trade who joins thousands of others who have been inspired to have their teeth straightened.

Having been unhappy with her crooked teeth for a while, she sought to do something about them and went to see dentist, Niall Sloan, at Sloan Dental in Carfin, Lanarkshire (@Sloan_Dental on Twitter).

She says: ‘I had braces about 20 years ago, but my teeth had drifted back out of alignment. I wanted to straighten my teeth to improve my smile and I chose Cfast braces as they were permanently fixed on – so no option to 'cheat' on sore mouth days – and the results were fast.’

She adds: ‘I was unhappy with my front teeth that slightly overlapped and I felt self conscious about their appearance. I had ceramic braces fitted, as I didn't want anything too obtrusive – i.e. metal braces. Only a few people actually noticed as the braces are clear, but I did tell some family and friends about it.’

Cfast and SmileTRU are two leading cosmetic tooth-alignment systems that offer cosmetic tooth alignment solutions – safely and successfully.

They’ve taken the fear factor out of teeth straightening with a unique service that

offers two options for affordable adults braces.

Cfast is a gentle, minimally invasive short-term orthodontic treatment for adults that

is comfortable, safe and affordable and uses tooth-coloured wires and clear brackets to gently straighten the ‘social six’ – those teeth that show when we smile.

And, for those patients seeking total discretion, SmileTRU is the clear aligner option, the transparent sequential positioner system offering comfort a well as convenience.

Lyndsey-Ann thinks that cost and time frame often put off a lot of people, but The her Cfast braces were on for just a little more than six months. She then complted her smile makeover with teeth whitening – the whole process taking just seven months!

She says: ‘My speech was only slightly affected when they were first fitted – and the same for my diet. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Cfast. It’s a quick and fairly pain-free experience and the best bit is that I get so many compliments about my smile now!

She had her braces fitted just a month before she turned 40 and says, ‘I don't think it's ever too late to have nice straight teeth’.

‘I love the confidence I now have when smiling and talking to people – and I don't feel the need to hide my mouth any more.

‘I think the TOWIE effect has a lot to answer for with both men and women wanting to improve their appearance.’

Lyndsey-Ann is certainly over the moon with the aesthetic results but she has some important tips for those of us about to embark on our own cosmetic teeth-straightening journey – ‘Brush teeth three times a day, use a sensitive toothpaste and always carry with you mini dental brushes – and a mirror!’
